Branch Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

Having qualified from Edinburgh university in 1996 I started Feldon Veterinary Centres with two partners in 2000. Since June 2017 I have been the branch partner at the Leamington Spa Hospital. I have gained General Practitioners certificate in Endoscopy and Endosurgery and in Emergency medicine and surgery. Heading up the minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy services I am passionate to promote the benefit of these procedures. I have a strong interest in surgery and enjoy seeing a wide variety of cases at the hospital.

I qualified from Cambridge university in 2009 and worked in mixed practice until 2013 when I joined the Leamington Spa team, having developed a bias towards small animal practice. I enjoy medical cases with my main interest being diagnostic imaging. I gained my General Practitioners certificate in Diagnostic imaging in 2015 and carry out the majority of ultrasounds at the hospital.

I graduated in 2005 from the Royal Veterinary College and went into mixed practice for the first five years. I then spent seven years at a small animal charity where I developed two interests: surgery and behaviour. During this time, I gained experience in advanced soft tissue surgery and completed an MSc in applied animal behaviour. Since coming to Medivet in August 2017, I have continued developing my interests further by learning keyhole surgery and obtaining my RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in companion animal behaviour. I have recently undertaken more of an inpatient role within the hospital and am really enjoying further study in internal medicine.

I graduated from Bristol University in 2015 and worked in a small animal hospital for a few years. I particularly enjoyed the emergency cases I would see on my on call. I then moved to Australia to work as an emergency and critical care vet on the Gold Coast where I got to deal with tick paralysis and snake bite cases which was incredibly challenging. I then moved back to the UK and worked in various hospitals in the Midlands where I joined the Leamington Spa team in 2020 to work as part of the Night Team. Outside of work I enjoy walking, baking, strength training and working on my wildlife garden.

Having graduated as a vet in Liverpool University in 2004 , I spent my first 6 years in mixed practice in Yorkshire then South Worcestershire - both jobs having considerable on-call duties alongside busy daytimes. I then became a small animal day vet in Redditch for 5 years, starting the practice with ultrasonography and chemotherapy as well as honing my general surgical and medical knowledge. I became a night vet in South Wales for 5 years and have enjoyed emergency and critical care ever since. I joined Leamington Spa in the summer of 2020 as a night vet and relish a variety of cases.

After graduated in 2017 from Veterinary Faculty in Wroclaw, Poland, I enjoyed working in international environment in multiple veterinary hospitals in Europe, including Spain, Germany, The Netherlands and finally the UK. I always felt attracted by emergency and critical care medicine and now I will be working towards a post-graduate certificate in this field. I divide my free time between travelling and volunteering for abandoned animals.

I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2005, shortly after I joined the Leamington hospital in October 2006, taking over the role of Head Nurse soon after. Joining the hospital team allowed me study and achieve my Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing in 2018. I lead a great team of 11 nurses and 3 patient care assistants, and we pride ourselves on our dedication to patient care. I enjoy all aspects of the role particularly emergency and critical care. I have passion for training and teaching, I am a clinical coach and regularly examine student nurses in their final exams. I am also part of the clinical committee striving to develop and improve our profession. I live in Warwickshire with my husband, two children, and our two dogs Peppa and Ecco. When I'm not at work I enjoy walking and horse riding.

After completing a degree in animal behaviour and welfare at Plymouth University, which included studying a group of kangaroos in Western Australia, I then studied to be a veterinary nurse, qualifying in 2020. I have recently completed a certificate in feline nursing from the International Society of Feline Medicine. I am the resident crazy cat lady, with two of my own, Rocky & Ralph. They are 12 year old black & white moggy's who do not act their age! I am the cat advocate at Leamington, ensuring the practice maintains their high standards in creating a calm and feline friendly environment for all patients. I am also particularly interested in running the weight clinics within the practice, helping owners and their pets on the journey to healthier, happier lives together.

I qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2021, having originally joined the practice as a client care assistant in 2018. Since 2022 I have been the deputy head nurse at the hospital, working closely with our head nurse and senior veterinary surgeons to ensure smooth running of the business and to help provide exceptional client and patient care. I am a clinical coach and enjoy mentoring our students along their nursing journey. I have a love for the outdoors and getting lost in the countryside. I hope to one day soon have a bouncy, energetic dog to join me on those adventures!

I started as a mobile Patient Care Assistant in September 2019 and moved to a permanent position at Leamington Spa in July 2020. I moved on to nights in February 2023 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in July 2023. My main interests are inpatient care and emergency treatment. At home I have two horses and four cats. I like spending my spare time camping, hiking and paddleboarding in the nicer weather.

In September 2020, I started here at the Leamington Spa hospital as a PCA front of house, then moved to back of house around March 2021 and started my veterinary nursing course September that year. I passed first year but decided to take some time away in October 2022 and have been enjoying my role as PCA ever since. I have a cheeky three-legged lurcher called Eddie who I adopted when he was brought into us as a stray in January 2022.

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2021 from Solihull college. I have worked at various practices throughout the region since I joined Medivet in 2018 and spent most of that time based over in Coventry where I started my nurse training before finishing my qualification here at Leamington Spa. In October 2022 I was lucky enough to go over to South Africa with a team of other Medivet colleagues to see how the Wilderness foundation works and how the vital funding from Medivet clients goes towards helping the fight against rhino poaching and the conservation of other species.

I started working as a PCA at Medivet in June 2022. In the future, I hope to pursue a career as a Veterinary Nurse. My passion for animals has motivated me to undertake and successfully complete a diploma in animal management and a BSc in animal biology. I have a spicy German shepherd puppy called Xena and 2 obnoxious cats, called Oliver and Bruce.

My love for animals began when I worked at Pets at Home for three years and soon discovered my passion for the veterinary side of animal care. I have worked as a receptionist at another local vet practice but moved here to pursue my nursing. I started working at the Leamington Spa hospital as a PCA in July 2022 and started my Veterinary Nursing course in September 2023. I have one cat called Mango and fourteen reptiles (there are too many to name) at home and hope to specialise in these when I qualify.

I qualified in 2016 as an RVN and have worked in a variety of roles. I most enjoy inpatient care and emergency work in a hospital setting so I was happy to come back to Medivet as part of the night team. Outside of work I run a small livery yard which keeps me very busy.

I came to Medivet Leamington Spa in November 2023 to be a PCA, in hopes of becoming a student nurse and then eventually a qualified nurse in the future. I was previously a client care assistant at my last practice, but I knew I wanted to have the opportunity to be more hands-on with the animals and learn much more, and a Medivet emergency animal hospital seemed like the perfect place to do this and progress my career!

I joined the veterinary industry in 2014 after graduating from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Zoology. I began working as a receptionist at Medivet Kenilworth and then moved on to become Head Client Care Assistant at Medivet Leamington Spa 24 Hour Hospital. I enjoy the fast-paced work and seeing happy pets and owners. At home, I have an English Springer Spaniel called Milo who takes his role as a springer very seriously. We enjoy running, agility and long scenic walks, followed by snuggles on the sofa.

I have a passion for working with animals and love anything to do with looking after and helping the doggies. Before working at Medivet I worked in a kennels and cattery and loved this job because I got to spend lots of time playing and running around the field with the residents. When I am not working at Medivet I like to spend some of my weekends back at the kennels and the rest of my time with friends and family (mainly the family pets). If I do have spare time I am usually at home, playing guitar, singing, listening to music, reading or occasionally watching a good series.

I can’t praise the out of hours service highly enough. My very poorly cat was seen immediately by the vet late on Friday and unfortunately had to be put to sleep that night. The vet was very kind, explained everything very clearly and the decision was entirely mine with no pressure. The process was very kindly done at a pace to suit me and my cat and she passed away very peacefully. I am devastated that she is gone but my experience at the vets made it far easier to bear. Thank you.

This is an absolutely brilliant practice, the vets and support staff are professional and knowledgable. It is rare to find a vet able to handle cats just as well as dogs. The prices are very reasonable and are not extortionate. If you have a cat, don’t hesitate to see Hugh. Be careful of the pesky vet provided non-velcro collars though if you have a cat… they may not be able to eat or drink without removing it and it takes a long time to take it off and put it back on after they’ve eaten especially if your cat doesn’t want it to go back on. The Velcro ones take less than 5s.

At 5.00pm on a Wednesday evening our lovely dog decided to get part of a stick wedged into his gum, by 6pm he was being operated on and by 8pm we took him home happy as Larry. Everyone at Medivet was fantastic and we cannot recommend them enough.

James (Vet) was amazing, not only did he make our Labrador welcome but all of us. We were welcomed warmly by the reception staff and made to feel we had been going there forever, not our first visit. James was great with our Lab not only making a fuss of him but making us humans less anxious, James you are a credit Thank you for everything you have done

My dog was admitted with a few concerning issues, she made progress according to one vet then another would constantly suggest putting her down. When we went to see our dog for visits she was never the way that one vet would be badly describing her as. We put in a formal complaint and were basically told what we said was wrong and that the vet we had spoken to most days hadn’t said any of the bad stuff she HAD said to us. She put down her other colleagues making it very difficult to trust any of them. Would recommend going elsewhere than any sort of medivet!

We found a baby pigeon fallen from a nest on the road. We called to ask if they can provide care to the animal which could not fly and had difficulty to walk, merely standing surrounded by flies and wasps. Very helpful on the phone and in person. I am grateful for their attitude and assistance.
